Ralph brings many years’ experience of building specifications for complex automation systems and prioritising investment across large projects. As the lead systems engineer for the Home Energy Systems Gateway project, he continues to help the Energy Systems Catapult refine its requirements for the UK’s future domestic heating strategy.  In 2016, he led the process that advised DECC, now BEIS, on how the electrical power networks should evolve to meet the country’s climate change obligations.  This engagement in energy strategy is built on a longstanding commitment to renewable technologies and, after a time as Head of Energy for the Exeter City Futures initiative and following 15 years in consultancy with the BMT Group, he has deep insights into the necessity and challenges of introducing clean technologies.
